Power Ranker ("we", "us") lets you create, rank, vote on and share ranked sets, rank and score music, play games with friends, join groups, and message friends. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Power Ranker you agree to this policy.
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive a unique account identifier and, depending on the provider and your choices, your display name and profile photo. You choose a username. You create content: sets, item names and images, rankings, votes and song scores, group chat and direct messages, and reactions. We also store the sets you save and the collections you file them in, the users you block, and settings such as which notifications you want and whether you prefer clean or explicit music. We store this so the app works.
We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, storage and hosting, and to record app activity such as votes cast and games played (used for features like badges). We use analytics and crash reporting to understand usage and diagnose problems; crash reports may include device model, OS version and diagnostic logs. We do not sell your personal information.
We do not store your email address in your public profile. Your email is held only by the authentication provider and is not shown to other users.
Your username, profile photo, badges, friends list, the sets you make public, and your rankings and song scores are visible to other signed-in users. A set you make private is visible only to you, and a group's set only to that group's members. Sets you save and your collections are private to you. Group content and direct messages are visible to the relevant group members or conversation participants. A link you share to a public set or ranking shows its name and cover image to anyone who opens it, signed in or not. We share data with service providers who process it on our behalf (Google Firebase for the services above and for delivering notifications, Algolia for search, and Apple for sign-in, the music catalogue and delivering notifications), and where required by law.
The albums, artists, songs, artwork and short previews in Power Ranker come from the Apple Music catalogue. Browsing, ranking and scoring music needs no Apple Music account. If you choose to link Apple Music, we read the playlists you have made so you can score the songs on them. You give that permission on each device, and can take it back in your device settings or unlink from Profile → menu → Music → Apple Music. The key Apple issues for your library stays on your device: it is sent with each request for your playlists and is not stored on our servers. We keep each playlist you open as a set (its name, cover and songs) and a record that an Apple Music account is linked. A playlist set is private until you make it public. The scores you give its songs are not private: they are the same scores shown on your profile and counted in each artist's sets. We do not share Apple Music data with third parties for any purpose other than running the app, and do not use it for advertising or to identify you or your device.
If you allow notifications, we store a token that identifies the app on your device so that we can send them, along with your choices about which kinds you want. Notifications are delivered through Apple's and Google's push services and can include the name of the person involved and the text of a message sent to you. You can turn each kind off from Profile → menu → Notifications, silence a single group in that group's settings, or turn them all off in your device settings. Signing out removes the token for that device.
The app asks for access only when a feature needs it: your camera or photo library when you choose a profile or set image, your Apple Music library when you link Apple Music, and notifications as described above. An image on your clipboard is read only when you tap to paste it. Set drafts you have not published are kept on your device, not on our servers.
You can change your username, edit or delete sets you created, choose who can see a set when you create it, delete your own messages, and unfriend or leave groups. You can delete your entire account at any time from Profile → menu → Account → Delete account; this removes your profile, username, friends, memberships, badges, notifications, saved sets and device tokens, and anonymizes content you contributed to shared sets. Deletion is permanent.
You can report sets and messages you find objectionable, and we review reported content. Do not post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or infringing.
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your personal data as described above; some records may persist briefly in backups or where retention is legally required.
Power Ranker is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age.
The web version of Power Ranker uses Google reCAPTCHA to confirm that requests come from a real browser rather than an automated script. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information from your device and sends it to Google for analysis; it is not used to personalize advertising to you. This use is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. The iOS app uses Apple's App Attest and DeviceCheck services, through Firebase App Check, to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the app. This does not identify you.
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, in-app notice.
